From Christian Upbringing to Islamic Conversion: The Story of Yusha Evans
Yusha Evans, a full-time lecturer and caller to Islam, was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, in a very conservative Christian home. His early teens saw him heavily involved in the church near his home and in Young Life, a non-denominational youth-oriented organization, with the intention of becoming involved in the ministry of teaching and preaching. Upon graduating high school, he had planned to enroll in Bob Jones University, a world-renowned Bible College in his hometown, but in the summer of 1996, his life took an unexpected turn.
After studying the Bible from cover to cover and realizing that many things were askew, and much of what he had believed his entire life was not in line with what his research found, Yusha left Christianity and went in search of the truth. He delved into the many world religions in his quest for tangible proof of the right way of life. This journey led him to encounter a Muslim, who gave him a Qur’an. After reading the Qur’an cover to cover, he accepted Islam in the winter of 1998.
Exploring the Path of Islam
Yusha’s conversion to Islam was a turning point in his life, and he has since dedicated himself to teaching and spreading the message of Islam. He currently works as a full-time lecturer and caller to Islam, traveling all across the globe to teach workshops and seminars on the teachings of Islam. He has studied under numerous teachers and scholars in the various sciences of Islam and is currently pursuing a Psychology major.
He is also studying under Shaykh Waleed Al-Menesse, one of the world’s foremost scholars in the Qur’an and its various sciences. His knowledge of the Qur’an has enabled him to give numerous lectures and talks on Islamic theology, Islamic history, and Islamic law. His work has also made him the founder and co-founder of two Islamic television stations in North America, and he has appeared on many Islamic stations throughout the world.
