Maher Bin Hamad Bin Muhammad Bin Al-Mu’aiqly Al-Balawi, born on January 7, 1969, is an esteemed Imam and preacher at the Grand Mosque of Mecca, Masjid al-Haram.
Educational and Professional Achievements:
Maher graduated from the Teachers College in Madinah, specializing in mathematics, and later worked as a teacher in Makkah Al-Mukarramah. His journey continued as a student guide at Prince Abdul Majeed School in Makkah. He earned a master’s degree in the jurisprudence of Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal at the College of Shari’a at Umm Al-Qura University in 1425 AH and went on to obtain a doctorate in interpretation.
Currently serving as an assistant professor in the Judicial Studies Department at the College of Judicial Studies and Regulations at Umm Al-Qura University, Maher also holds the position of Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
Doctoral Theses:
- His doctoral thesis, titled “Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal Jurisprudence Issues according to the narration of Abd al-Malik al-Maimouni (collection and study),” was completed in 1432 AH at Umm Al-Qura University.
- Another doctoral thesis focused on “The Prophet’s Masterpiece in Explanation of the Warning to Al-Zanklouni Al-Shafi’i, a Study and research of the Chapter on Borders and the Judiciary.” This thesis was discussed at the King Abdul Aziz Hall, and he obtained his doctorate in jurisprudence on 28 Muharram 1434.
Imam of the Grand Mosque:
Maher Bin Hamad Al-Mu’aiqly demonstrated his leadership by leading the sermon at Al-Saadi Mosque in Al-Awali district, Makkah Al-Mukarramah. Notably, he assumed the leadership of prayer at the Prophet’s Mosque during the Holy month of Ramadan in 1426 AH and 1427 AH. Furthermore, he led the Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers at the Grand Mosque during the month of Ramadan in 1428 AH.
In recognition of his excellence, Maher was appointed as the official Imam of the Grand Mosque in the year 1428 AH, continuing in this esteemed position to the present day.
