Shaykh Said is a renowned Islamic scholar, community leader, and founder of multiple organizations dedicated to promoting the Islamic faith and serving the Muslim community. His life’s work has been characterized by a deep commitment to Islamic education and community service, and his many accomplishments have made him a well-respected figure among Muslims worldwide.
Early Life and Education
Born in Somalia, Shaykh Said moved to North America in the late 80s to pursue his education. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic studies and a Masters in Shari’ah, the Islamic legal system. Shaykh Said’s dedication to his studies was evident early on, and his exceptional academic performance earned him many opportunities to teach and mentor others.
Community Service and Leadership
Over the years, Shaykh Said has held numerous leadership positions within the Muslim community. He founded Masjid Huda in Montreal and Masjid Aya in Maryland, two prominent mosques that have become centers for Islamic education and community service. He also served as an advisor for Muslim Youth magazine, where he shared his knowledge and expertise with young Muslims around the world.
In addition to his work with these organizations, Shaykh Said is the founder of both Muslim Magazine and Al Aqsa Association, two publications that have become trusted sources of information and inspiration for Muslims everywhere. He was also a Chaplain at both the University of Calgary and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), where he provided spiritual guidance and support to Muslim students.
Current Work
Currently, Shaykh Said serves as the Imam at the Abu Hurairah Mosque in Toronto, where he continues to inspire and educate Muslims from all walks of life. He is also the Chairman for the Journey of Faith Conference, an annual event that brings together Muslims from around the world to learn and grow together.
