Shaykh Omer El-Hamdoon is a Muslim community leader, imam, educator, writer, and international speaker. He was raised in the UK after leaving Iraq at a young age. He has worked with various Muslim organizations in the UK, including the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), Muslim Association of Britain (MAB), Mosques and Imams National Advisory Board (MINAB), and is currently a member of the European Assembly of Imams and the British Board of Scholars and Imams (BBSI).
With a passion for understanding and teaching Islam, Shaykh Omer has delved deep into Islamic Sciences, earning a Masters in Islamic Studies in addition to his qualification in Dentistry. He has been delivering Jumu‘ah sermons, motivational reminders, and educational courses for over 25 years, and also works as a mentor and spiritual coach.
Shaykh Omer recognizes the gap that needs bridging for Muslims living in the West to understand Islam within the context of their lives, and combines traditional understanding of Islam with modern concepts. He is the co-author of the book “30 Steps Towards a Refreshing Ramadan” and has translated other books, including al-Nawawī’s “Bustān al-‘Arifīn” and the “Hadramī Introduction”.
Shaykh Omer speaks at varying venues and international events, as well as appearing on TV channels in both English and Arabic, and lectures on various topics, including fiqh, usūl al-fiqh, hadith, and politics in Islam.
