The African Union Internship is a program that allows interns to supplement their educational experience while also developing their professional skills and experience.
The program is a full-time commitment that allows qualified individuals from a variety of academic backgrounds to gain professional experience at the AU. As an organization that values diversity and teamwork, we encourage all qualified candidates to apply.

The goal of the program is to expose participants to the workings of the AU at an early stage in their professional careers and to help them develop their personal and professional skills. It allows participants to gain hands-on experience in a variety of relevant fields while learning in an intercultural setting.
The AU will also receive support from participants who have sufficient knowledge and skills in relevant areas, and it will serve as a potential training ground for future African leaders.

Interns help provide administrative and technical support for the effective implementation of African Union programs, projects, and activities in the following Departments/Directorates:

Eligibility Requirements
•   Actively enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program OR
•   Must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree or an advanced/ post graduate (Masters) qualification in a related academic field;Â
•   Be nationals of a Member State of the African Union.
•   Be full time students currently enrolled in the final year of their Bachelors or graduate school program.
•   Be fluent in at least one of the African Union working languages (Arabic, English, French or Portuguese).
•   Be no more than thirty-two (32) years of age at the time of selection.
•   Possess the highest standard of moral conduct and integrity.
•   Have not been convicted of any serious criminal offence excluding minor traffic offences. Â
•   Prior work experience is not required for the internship positions.
Required Skills
•   Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel and Power Point)
•   Proficiency with e-mail and internet applications,Â
•   Good interpersonal skills
•   Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
•   Proficiency in one of the AU officials working languages (French, English, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, Kiswahili) and fluency in another AU language(s) is an added advantage

Applicants must be full-time students in their final year of a Bachelor’s degree program OR enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program.
Languages: Applicants must be fluent in at least one of the official languages of the African Union.
Computer skills: The ability to use office software (MS Office).
Attitude: An understanding of the many facets of a multicultural world, as well as a commitment to international public service, are required.
Availability: An internship must last no more than three months, with the possibility of being extended for three more months if the hosting Department/Division provides strong justification.
